Independent jewellers on the Carfax in Horsham
Sakakini has been at 45 Carfax for over twenty years. Chains have opened and closed around us in that time, retail has moved online, independent shops have got harder to sustain. We’re still here, doing more or less what we’ve always done.
We’re a family-run business. The people you deal with when you come in are the people who own and run the shop. If you have a question, the person answering it knows the answer. If you bring in a piece for repair, the person taking it in is the one doing the work, or knows exactly who will.
What we do
We’re not a single-service shop. Over the years we’ve built up a range of services that most independents don’t offer under one roof – bespoke jewellery design and making, jewellery and watch repairs, valuations for insurance and probate, gold and silver buying and selling, pawnbroking, sale or return, and a regularly changing collection of pre-loved jewellery and watches.
That breadth isn’t accidental. It comes from twenty years of customers asking for things and us finding ways to help. Most of what we do now, we do because someone walked in and needed it.
How we work
We don’t work on commission. There’s no incentive to sell you something you don’t need or push you towards a higher price. If a repair isn’t worth doing, we’ll say so. If we can’t help with something, we’ll tell you who can.
That might sound like a low bar. It shouldn’t be, but in retail it often is.
We price against the market, not against what we think we can get away with. We explain valuations rather than just quoting a number. We do repairs in-house rather than sending your piece off somewhere. We give honest assessments — including the ones that mean we don’t make a sale.

Alice
Hi, I’m Alice the general manager at Sakakini Jewellers. I love working with our clients to help find their perfect piece of jewellery, whether that’s something we have in the shop or helping them create something bespoke.
Outside of work I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, going camping in Cornwall and listening to live music.
My ideal day off is spent going for a drive with my partner in his 1920’s Ford Model-T hot rod in the sunshine and stopping for a pub lunch and walk along the sea front.

Hi, I’m Nick and I’m proud to work in the Sakakini team, since June 2025. I have been in the jewellery and watch retail sector for over 30 years working with prestigious brands such as Harrods, Hermes, David Morris at Harvey Nichols, F Hinds to name a few.
I grew up in Zimbabwe, and I am currently a minister of the church in Crawley.
My main interests are Ancient Egypt, Golf, and being a proud father and husband.

I enjoy helping customers find pieces that both feel stylish and meaningful, whether you’re after something classic or more trendy, I’m always happy to help!

On Saturdays you can find me in Sakakini Jewellers, polishing and helping around the shop.
In my spare time I like to read, play on the piano and draw. I feel most creative when I’m working with metal to create some wearable art!
