Jewellery repairs in Horsham
In store. Most jobs done while you wait or back within a few days
Jewellery repairs don’t need to disappear for six weeks. At Sakakini on the Carfax we handle most work in-house, which means you’re dealing directly with the people doing it, not posting your grandmother’s ring to a stranger and hoping for the best.
Come in and we’ll look at it, tell you what’s involved and what it costs. If we can’t help, we’ll say so. Either way it won’t cost you anything to ask.
Ring resizing
Fingers change size. Rings don’t, unless you bring them to us. We resize in gold, silver and platinum. If a ring fits awkwardly or has been sitting unworn because it’s the wrong size, it’s a straightforward job for most styles.
Worth knowing: rings with stones set all the way round (full eternity rings) are trickier – the setting limits how much we can adjust. We’ll tell you that upfront rather than take your money and disappoint you. If you’re not sure what size you need, come in and we’ll measure your finger properly.
Chain and clasp repairs
People put up with broken clasps and dodgy chains for longer than they should. It’s usually a quick fix – we solder broken chains, replace clasps that have given up, and sort loose or damaged links on necklaces and bracelets.
If it’s a piece you’d genuinely miss losing, get it looked at. A weak link doesn’t tend to go at a convenient moment.
Stone resetting
Claws wear down. Settings shift. Stones work loose, and eventually one falls out somewhere you’ll never find it. If you’ve noticed a stone that moves when you touch it, or a claw that snags on fabric, come in before it becomes a worse problem.
We re-tip and rebuild claws, re-seat loose stones, and replace missing ones where we can find a match. If you’ve already lost a stone, bring it in, we’ll tell you honestly what the options are and what it would cost.
Ultrasonic cleaning
Jewellery collects grease, skin oils and soap residue in all the places a cloth can’t reach. Ultrasonic cleaning shifts it using high-frequency sound waves. The results tend to be pretty dramatic – things that look dull and worn come out looking like they did when they were new.
It’s not right for everything. Some stones and surface treatments don’t respond well. We’ll check before we clean anything and tell you if there’s a better approach for your piece.
How it works
Bring it in. We’ll look at it, give you a price, and tell you how long it’ll take. Most straightforward jobs are done the same day. If we need to order something or it’s a bigger job, we’ll give you a realistic date – not a vague “a few weeks.”
No appointment. Just come in.
Why Sakakini?
We’ve been handling fine jewellery and precious metals for over 20 years. We’re family-run, we do the work ourselves, and we’d rather turn something away than do a job badly. If a repair isn’t worth the money, we’ll tell you.
Common questions
Do I need an appointment?
No. Monday to Saturday, walk in. If you’re travelling a distance, a quick call first means we can make sure the right person is there.
How long do repairs take?
Depends on the job. Clasps and chains are often done the same day. Ring resizing and stone resetting usually takes a few days. We’ll give you a straight answer when you bring it in.
Do you work on all types of jewellery?
Gold, silver and platinum – rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches. If you’re not sure, bring it in. Looking at it costs nothing.
What if it’s not worth repairing?
We’ll say so. There’s no point charging you for work that doesn’t make sense. You leave with the piece and no bill.
